It's time for our Annual Color Run Fundraiser! As our largest and most important fundraiser of the year, it directly shapes our school's future—and it’s a fantastic, fun community event you won't want to miss! Mark your calendars for October 17th at 8:00 AM. Who doesn't want to get covered in red, white, and blue powder to celebrate America's 250th anniversary?

Last year, thanks to your generosity, we raised over $125,000 to support classroom materials and campus improvements. We are about to break ground on the playground upgrades funded by last year's run, but we have set a goal to raise even more this year to expand the project. Our current plans include:

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Expansion: Extending the play area to provide more grassy space for students.

All-Weather Access: Adding concrete pads and walkways on the primary playground to allow safe access even after heavy rain.

Facility Upgrades: Enhancing the Gaga ball pit, adding dedicated four-square pads, and creating a designated soccer field.

Long-Term Vision: Upgrading the track area to accommodate more students.

Beyond campus upgrades, these funds directly support our classrooms by purchasing engaging educational materials tailored to various learning styles, as well as providing student and teacher incentives.

Your support makes all of this possible. Over the last seven years, Benton Elementary has earned an "A" rating and achieved Leader in Me Lighthouse School status. With your partnership, we are building the next generation of leaders and ensuring our campus is a place students look forward to coming to every single day. Any contribution helps us build on this success!

Dear Tiger Families,

I am excited to share with you an exciting tradition we have at our school — House Meetings!

A house is a special group of students from different classes who are brought together to form a small, supportive team. When your child beings at Benton Elementary, each student is randomly assigned to a color house. These houses stay the same during their time at Benton Elementary, allowing students to build friendships and teamwork skills across grade levels.

Throughout the school year, houses will come together for a variety of fun and educational activities such as:
• Special assemblies and pep rallies
• Guest speakers and learning events
• Friendly competitions
• Special lunches or celebrations

The goal of House Meetings is to help students:
• Build a sense of belonging and school spirit
• Learn cooperation and leadership skills
• Make new friends beyond their own classroom
• Participate in shared experiences that make school even more exciting

Each month we will have 2 house meetings. On these specified days students may dress in their house color. They may wear house color shirts, bottoms, shoes, etc. Please no costumes or anything that will distract students from learning. We will post on the app as well as the weekly newsletter prior to the day.

Our first pep rally is this Friday!!! All students will know which house they have by the end of today.

We look forward to seeing our students grow, learn, and have fun in their houses this year!

THURSDAY is the day!! It's the first day of Kindergarten! We are thrilled to welcome our tiniest Tigers to our school tomorrow! Here are a few tips for a successful first day!
Parents may walk their student to class, but please do not come into the front area until after all of the buses have cleared out. When you see the last bus leave, that is your sign to cross the street and line up outside of the Kindergarten building. If you are sending your child on the bus or in car line, there will be student leaders to walk them to their classroom. If you haven't used our car line before please watch the attached video to familiarize yourself with the procedures. Kindergarten and 1st grade students must be dropped off and picked up in the INNER line of the car line. This is to ensure their safety. Our staff is not able to buckle or unbuckle your child. Please pull forward to the grassy area to buckle your child. If you have questions, please email kim.hawkins@bossierschools.org. See you tomorrow!
